	~~To install Cantera on~~ Ubuntu~~, I had to do~~ a ~~couple of things~~.		I installed Ubuntu 12.04 onto an [http://charlesmartinreid.com/wordpress/2014/03/a-new-netbook-asus-eee-1001/ Asus Eee 1001 netbook]. Here are some notes.

	The ~~main~~ thing was Sundials - I had to re-compile sundials and passed the flags <code>-fPIC</code> to the C compiler. That way, Cantera and Sundials will play well.		First, I had to install gfortran, which was available via aptitude:

			Next came cython and numpy:

			</pre>

			The origin of this was that I was using the wrong version of libtool. A simple "which libtool" revealed the problem:

			/Applications/MAMP/bin/apache2/bin/libtool
			</pre>

			Wrong one! This was inadvertently installed when I installed MAMP, which is web hosting software for the Mac. A simple fix is:

			<pre>
			$ export PATH="/usr/bin:$PATH"
			$ which libtool
			/usr/bin/libtool
			</pre>

			All better. A better fix is to put the MAMP directory at the END of the $PATH variable, so it doesn't interfere with things.
