Bayes' Rule, or Bayes' Theorem, is a statement about the effect of data on predictions about the world:

The term on the left, the conditional probability of event A conditioned on some state of affairs or evidence B, is equal to the probability or evidence of B happening if A is true (the likelihood), times the probability of A being true, divided by the probability that B is true (independent of A).
