Overview:
- Currently have a handheld
- Able to listen in to local repeaters
- Reviewing instruction manual for handheld, listening into local repeaters and local frequencies, helps acquaint me with lay of land, introduce new technologies
- EchoLink, repeaters connected across continents (Asia, Japan check-in to Insomniac Net)
- Lots to explore with VHF, stick to that for now, much easier for apartment life anyway

- Different digital modes
- Packet - APRS
- RTTY
- PSK31
- Listening to the modes
- RTL-SDR
- HackRF
- Computer with appropriate software (programs for decoding, see Andys Ham Radio Linux) and hardware (soundcard)
- Raspberry Pi
- Raspberry Pi VHF TNC? radio modem, on order, see if this is going to do the trick.
