Overview:

• Currently have a handheld
• Able to listen in to local repeaters
• Reviewing instruction manual for handheld, listening into local repeaters and local frequencies, helps acquaint me with lay of land, introduce new technologies
• EchoLink, repeaters connected across continents (Asia, Japan check-in to Insomniac Net)
• Lots to explore with VHF, stick to that for now, much easier for apartment life anyway

• Listening to the modes
  • RTL-SDR

  • Computer with appropriate software (programs for decoding, see Andys Ham Radio Linux) and hardware (soundcard)
• Raspberry Pi
  • Raspberry Pi VHF TNC? radio modem, on order, see if this is going to do the trick.
