Option as Meta

To make the option key act as meta key, so that you can use Emacs key bindings:

Preferences > Profiles > Keys

At the bottom, change the "Left option" and "Right option" settings to both be "+Esc".

Now you can use Emacs keyboard bindings, e.g. Option+B to go back one word.
