Recipes/Oven Baked Mac and Cheese

Ingredients
- 1.5 cups dry macaroni
- 4 + 1 tablespoons butter (divided)
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1.5 cups whole milk
- 1 cup shredded cheddar
- 2 tablespoons dry bread crumbs
Directions
Macaroni:
- Cook macaroni according to package instructions
Cheese sauce:
- In saucepan, melt 4 tablespoons butter over medium heat
- Stir in flour, salt, pepper, until smooth (about 3 minutes)
- Slowly add milk, bring to bubble, cook until thick (about 2 minutes)
- Reduce heat, add cheese until all is melted
Baking:
- Add drained macaroni to 1.5 quart baking dish
- Pour cheese sauce over macaroni and mix thoroughly
- Melt remaining 1 tablespoon butter and add bread crumbs, sprinkle on top of mac and cheese
- Bake uncovered at 375 F for 30 minutes (or until golden brown on top)
