# Professors Cube Patterns

## Checkered Faces

To get the Professors Cube cube into a state where each face is covered with a checkered pattern (orange-red, blue-green, and white-yellow), apply the following algorithm to three orthogonal faces:

apply to orange or red face,
then apply to blue or green face,
then apply to white or yellow face
```

Another way to apply this algorithm is to think about it as follows:

• Two clockwise rotations of the upper layer
• Two clockwise rotations of the upper two layers
• Two clockwise rotations of the upper three layers
• Two clockwise rotations of the upper four layers

## Stripes

The stripes pattern is one that happens when applying the Diamond pattern (see below).

## Closed Diamonds (Santa Fe)

I call this the "Santa Fe" pattern because the pattern of colors resembles Native American art from New Mexico.
